Rattle Snakes eat mice, rats, small birds, and other small animals. They kill their with a deadly bite that can kill in 20 seconds, but if it doesn't die the Rattle Snake will follow its pray until it does. They can strike from distances two-thirds their body length. The rattle is a group of hollow beads which are really scales from the tip of the tail. Every time it sheds a new part of the rattle is added. A baby rattle snake doesn't have a working rattle until the first time it sheds. If the rattle gets too wet it won't make a sound.
